When the temperatures drop and the holiday lights glow bright, people seem to love tea! Tea parties that is! If you can’t make it to a local teddy bear or dolly tea, you can host one yourself at home! Here are some fun themes to get you started.


Scone Recipe: animal crackers, banana chips, white chocolate chips

Tea Suggestion: mixed fruit

Crafts: animal ears headband

Cookie Decorating: dog bone shape

Use this plain scone recipe, and add any of the add-ins to it.

Blank Canvas Scones


2 cups flour

¼ cup sugar

1 tablespoon baking powder

½ teaspoon salt

8 tablespoons chilled butter, cubed

1 cup milk

1 teaspoon vanilla extract

1 to 1 ½ cups of add-ins, chopped if needed


Combine the flour, sugar, baking powder and salt in a bowl or food processor. Cube the butter, and add it to the dry ingredients. Combine with a fork,pastry tool or food processor, until the mixture is crumbly. If using a food processor, transfer everything to a bowl once combined. Then pour in the milk and vanilla. Mix until just combined. Add the add-ins. Drop by two tablespoons on to a pan covered with parchment paper. Bake at 425° degrees for 9 minutes. Makes 30 mini scones.

Note: Use cream, whole or 2% milk for best results.
